Welcome to October 2015 and Halloween time at all the Theme Parks! Honestly, it's my favorite time of year in addition to Christmas time. The spooks, thrillz, special food, candy, specials events and show, and don't forget candy. (I know I said candy twice, but I love me some chocolate!)
This past week we visited SeaWorld San Diego for their annual Halloween Spooktacular. This family-friendly Halloween event includes 2 new shows:
California sea lions Clyde and Seamore spoof their favorite Halloween classics, with a little help from Op Otter of course, in Clyde & Seamore's Big Halloween Bash. Be sure to wear your costume and dance along with Clyde, Seamore, and OP for this brand-new spooky celebration offered daily.
Elmo and friends dress up in their Halloween best to sing and dance their way through Count’s Castle for a Costume Party!Elmo, Zoe, Cookie, Abby and Telly arrive at the Count’s Castle for a Halloween party to discover that Count is nowhere to be found. Through fun games, music and dance, Elmo and friends work as a team to figure out “Who Said Boo” in this spooky Halloween adventure!
Both shows are a fun filled dose of Halloween spirits and fun for all age groups. I was especially impressed with the Sesame Street characters costumes as their mouths actually moved with their voices. My 5 year old daughter loved this show a lot. The animals in the Sea Lion and Otter Halloween show was entertaining as always and Biff is always funny. Even when the animals miss a cue or action, it's still funny and entertaining. Night shows are always better with lighting too.
SeaWorld Halloween Merchandise
Halloween items can be found all over the park, from themed t-shirts and plushies, to special SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular outfits, frames and more.
The Mermaid Grotto and Pumpkinfish Patch
This is a large Halloween event area with a truck load of treats to be had. Dance the night away with DJ Cotton Candy spinning "sweet" beats for the whole area to enjoy. Get your selfie with an enchanting mermaid on a sea shell or visit the photo area for special Halloween backgrounds. The kids can build anything their imagination comes up with in the kinetic sand area. There's tons of characters walking around to get your photos with, dance with or just tell jokes with. There's even amusement style games with prizes.
The upbeat Halloween inspired music blasts around the park as you walk around with larger than life decorations. Pumpkins, tentacles holding candy and more are found all around SeaWorld. You're also encouraged to dress up for the event and it's great to see everyone else in the Halloween Spirit.
CANDY! I saved the best for last. We came home with so much candy that I may have gained a few pounds this week... I'll diet next week. But seriously, the amount of candy you get is awesome. Everyone is giving a candy bag and there's a lot of trat stations scattered all around the park. We never waited more than 5 minutes and was given a handful of candy each. Thanks SeaWorld.
We always like to see how different theme parks handle Halloween and we will be posting a lot of different experiences and events.
A few notes regarding SeaWorld's Halloween Spooktacular event:
